Why is SEO Important for my Website?

Whilst social media is a great way to generate traffic to your website, the majority of online traffic is driven by search engines. If your website isn’t optimised for search engines, you could be missing out on website traffic and in turn, potential leads.

For example, the majority of search engine users do not look past the third search page. If your website isn’t ranked on the first search engine results page (SERP) your potential customers might never come across your website.

How Can I Improve my SERP Ranking and SEO?

Here are five tactics to increase your website’s search engine rankings:

1. Know your audience

Understand what your customers are searching for online, the answers they need and the keywords they are using.

2. Keywords

Once you have researched the keywords that your target audience is using, start adding them to your site and use them in your header tags, meta tags and content.

3. Content

Update your content regularly to increase relevancy and utilise heading tags to highlight important key words and phrases.

4. Link-building

Obtaining backlinks from external sites as well as posting internal links from your site increases optimisation.

5. Optimise Images

Add keywords in the image filename/alt tag and resize or compress your image to increase page speed.

6. Page Speed

Improve your page speed by reducing image sizes, removing unused plugins and clearing unnecessary large files.
